Regina Seniors Dumont and Naeve, West Branch’s Wright Earn First-Team All-State Honors From IPSWA

Together Gentry Dumont and Jackson Naeve combined to form one of the most productive passing duos in the state this season.
On Tuesday the Regina teammates were rewarded for their impressive production with spots on the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association all-state team.
Dumont and Naeve each earned Class 1A first-team all-state honors on Tuesday when the IPSWA announced their postseason awards.
Naeve and Dumont were joined on the 1A all-state team by teammate Drew Streb and West Branch seniors Logan Wright and Reese Trepanier.
Dumont and Naeve each earned all-state honors for the first time after stellar senior seniors in which they helped the Regals to a 9-2 record and a spot in the Class 1A quarterfinals.
Naeve was a first-team selection as a wide receiver after ranking third in 1A in receiving yards, second in all-purpose yards and eighth in total touchdowns.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Naeve caught 41 passes for 848 yards and 11 touchdowns and rushed for 344 yards and eight touchdowns.
Naeve also returned two kickoffs and a punt for touchdowns and averaged 29.3 yards per kick off return and 19.9 yards per punt return.
Dumont earned first-team honors as an offensive utility selection following a strong senior season in which he ranked third in 1A in passing yards and passing touchdowns.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Dumont completed 64 percent of his passes while throwing for 2,390 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Dumont rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns.
Streb (6-2, 235) was a second-team all-state pick as an offensive linemen after helping pave the way for the Regals to average better than 40 points and 370 total yards per game.
Wright was named to the 1A all-state team as a defensive linemen for the second year in a row.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound senior was a stalwart on a West Branch defense that was among the best in 1A.
Wright ranked third on the team with 42 tackles and had 2.5 sacks to go with 20 tackles for loss.
The 20 tackles for loss by Wright ranked sixth in 1A and the senior also recovered a fumble and had an interception he returned 39 yards for a touchdown.
Trepanier earned all-state honors for the first time, earning a spot on the 1A second team as a linebacker.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Trepanier ranked second on the team with tackles with 49.5 and had 4.5 tackles for loss, a sack and a fumble recovery.
