One of the anchors of the City High offensive line for the past several seasons has settled on a college football future.
City High senior offensive tackle Trey Dervrich announced his commitment to Carnegie Mellon University on Monday with a post on social media.
“Committed to (Carnegie Mellon Football),” Dervich wrote on X the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Thank you mom and dad for everything that you have sacrificed to get me this far. Thank you god for every opportunity you give me. Thank you to my current and future coaches for believing in everything I could do. The next chapter awaits.”
Dervrich has been a key member on the City High offensive line the past two seasons helping the Little Hawks reach the 5A playoffs each of the past two seasons.
The 6-foot-3, 252-pound Dervrich helped pave the way for a City High offense that was among the most productive in Class 5A this season.
City High averaged 33.5 points and 436 total yards per game including 180 rushing yards per game.
A first-team all-Mississippi Valley Conference selection last season as a junior Dervrich helped pave the way for City High senior tailback Miles Parlet to rush for 1,388 yads this season, the second 1,000-yard rusher for the Little Hawks in the past two seasons.
Located in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon University is 7-1 this season including a 7-1 mark in the Presidents Athletic Conference.
The Tartans went 11-1 last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
