Clear Creek Amana Senior Beck Named WAMAC West Division Player of the Year for Third Consecutive Season

Clear Creek Amana continued its storybook season on Tuesday remaining undefeated and advancing to the state tournament with a sweep of Oskaloosa in a Class 4A regional final.
A day later Clear Creek Amana senior Bliss Beck extended her run of earning the WAMAC Conference’s top individual honor.
Beck was named WAMAC West Division player of the year for the third consecutive season on Wednesday when the league released its postseason honors.
The player of the year honors for Beck highlighted a list of seven Clippers to earn all-divisional honors from the conference including a trio of first-team selections in the West Division.
Senior libero Meg Berkland and sophomore Averie Lower each joined Beck as unanimous first-team all-West Division selections after helping the Clippers to a 45-0 record including a 5-0 record in WAMAC West Division matches and the first WAMAC tournament title in program history.
Solon had five players earn all-East Division honors led by junior Grace Erwin who was a unanimous first-team selection.
Already a two-time WAMAC player of the year pick Beck had her best season as a senior while earning her first straight player of the year award.
The 6-foot-2 Beck ranks fourth in Class 4A with 389 kills while hitting a 4A-best .471.
Beck also leads 4A with 111 blocks to go with 46 digs and 10 ace serves.
Berkland earned first-team honors for the second consecutive season after leading Class 4A with 486 digs from her libero spot.
The senior ranks second on the team with 45 ace serves.
A second-team West Division pick last season, Lower earned first-team honors for the first time this fall.
Lower ranks second to Beck with 269 kills on .229 hitting, is third on the team with 285 digs and fourth with 46 blocks.
Senior Addison Gisleson and sophomore Emily Henderson were each named to the West Division second team.
Gisleson ranked second on the team with 392 digs, was third with 41 ace serves and fourth with 98 kills.
Henderson earned all-division honors for the first time after leading the Clippers with 502 assists while also accumulating 93 kills, 217 digs, 45 blocks and 25 ace serves.
Seniors Sam Schrage and Kenadi Wood were both honorable mention selections in the West Division.
Erwin highlighted a group of five Solon players to earn all-division honors after the Spartans posted a 22-15 record and reached a Class 3A regional final for the second consecutive season.
A two-time first-team all-East division pick, Erwin ranked fifth in 3A with 111 blocks and was third on the team with 180 kills while leading the Spartans with .390 hitting efficiency.
Senior setter Brynn Deike and junior Yasmine Sell each earned second-team all-East Division honors for Solon.
Deike led the Spartans with 547 assists and 32 ace serves and had 108 digs, 47 blocks and 48 kills.
Sell led the Spartans with 258 kills on .217 hitting and was third on the team with 66 blocks to go with 174 digs and 30 ace serves.
Sophomores Jozie Lahr and Kennedey Whitford each earned honorable mention honors for Solon.
