For the second straight season Solon will play for a spot at the state tournament.

Class 3A No. 13 Solon advanced to the Regional title game with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-12 sweep of Tipton on Thursday in the 3A, Region 8 semifinals in Solon.

Solon improved to 22-14 with the win and will travel to defending 3A state champion Davenport Assumption (26-7) for the Region 8 title game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Fourth-ranked Davenport Assumption swept Fairfield 25-15, 25-9, 25-17 in the other Region 8 semifinal on Thursday.

Grace Erwin led Solon with 14 kills and four blocks while sophomore Jozie Lahr added 10 kills and three blocks in the semifinal win over Tipton (19-18).

Yasmine Sell added nine kills and Gable Knight had seven kills for the Spartans.

Kennedy Whitford had 16 digs for Solon and Aly Stahle had 13 digs and Sell added 12 digs.

Brynn Deike had 41 assists for Solon.
