Girls Cross Country Roundup: Clear Creek Amana Returns to 3A State Meet for Second Consecutive Season

After going nearly 20 nears between trips to the state cross country meet Clear Creek Amana is headed to Fort Dodge for a second year in a row.
Last season Clear Creek Amana secured its first trip to the state meet since 2003 with a runner-up finish at the state qualifying meet.
On Wednesday the Clippers navigated one of the most challenging 3A state qualifying fields to earn a second consecutive state meet appearance.
Sixth-ranked Clear Creek Amana finished third behind top-ranked Pella and No. 11 Harlan on Wednesday at the 3A state qualifier at Pella Sports Park in Pella.
Pella had four runners in the top nine led by individual champion Marissa Ferebee and won the team title with 29 points.
Harlan was runner-up with 98 and Clear Creek Amana was third with 110 points, edging Washington by two points for the final state meet spot.
Clear Creek Amana didn’t have a runner finish in the top 15 but had all five point scorers in the top 29.
Kira Barker led Clear Creek Amana placing 17th in a time of 20:49.79 while Sara Kinzenbaw was 18th in 20:53.67.
Kiera Rogers placed 22nd in 21:19.01, freshman Kadence Whitmer was 24th in 21:35.02 and Harper Tecklenburg finished 29th in 21:42.68.
Ferebee won the individual title in a time of 18:39.71 and teammate Ruth Dunham was runner-up in 19:08.65.
