Boys Cross Country Roundup: Liberty High Returns to State Meet With Runner-up Finish at Ames State Qualifier

For the fourth time in the past five season Liberty High is headed to the state cross country meet.
Liberty High secured its spot at the state meet with a runner-up finish at the Class 4A state qualifying meet at the Iowa State University Cross Country Course on Wednesday afternoon in Ames.
Fourth-ranked Ankeny won the team title with 26 points and No. 11 Liberty High was second with 52 points.
Eighth-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes finished third with 65 points to earn the final spot at the 4A state meet schedule for October 27 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
Liberty High had four runners finish in the top 10 on Wednesday as it secured its first trip to state since 2021.
Senior Aidan Decker was fourth in a time of 15:41.4 while freshman Keegan Decker was fifth in a time of 15:42.3.
Noah Gregoire finished ninth in 15:54.9 and Jacob Madsen was right behind in 10th place in a time of 15:55.8.
Natnael Kifle of Sioux City North won the individual title in 15:20.5 edging Ethan Zuber of Ankeny who finished runner-up in 15:20.8.
