Regina moved up one spot in the final edition of the Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 1A football rankings that were released on Monday afternoon.

The Regals climbed one spot from sixth to fifth in the latest 1A rankings determined throughout the 2023 regular season by official rankings committees for the four smallest classes.

Regina defeated Wilton 35-0 on Friday and closes the regular season 7-1.

The top four in the 1A rankings remained unchanged with Grundy Center (8-0), Underwood (7-1), Sumner-Fredericksburg (7-1) and MFL Mar Mac (7-1) joining Regina in the 1A top five.

Other top-ranked teams this week are Central Lyon/George Little Rock (7-0) in Class 2A, Saint Ansgar (7-0) in Class A and Winfield-Mount Union (7-0) in eight player.

The Ratings Percentage Index lists were released for the third time this season on Monday for the three largest classes.

City High (5-3) is No. 10 and West High (4-4) is No. 17 in the Class 5A RPI standings while Liberty High (3-5) is No. 22.

Clear Creek Amana (2-6) is No. 26 in the Class 4A RPI and Solon (6-1) is second in Class 3A.

Top-ranked teams in the RPI standings this week include Southeast Polk in 5A, Western Dubuque  in 4A, and Creston in 3A.
