West Branch Senior Point Guard Arnaman Commits to Minnesota State

One of the best point guards in the state and top players in West Branch history has announced his future basketball plans.
West Branch senior all-state point guard Holden Arnaman announced his commitment to Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday with a post on social media.
“I’m proud to announce that I have committed to Minnesota State University Mankato to continue my academic and athletic career,” Arnaman wrote on X the social media platform formally named Twitter.
Arnaman established himself as one of the top point guards in the state last season with a breakthrough year in which he earned second-team Class 2A all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.
The 6-foot-2 Arnaman averaged career-highs of 21.8 points and 5.7 assists per game last season while helping West Branch to a 12-11 record and a berth in the 2A district semifinals.
Arnaman ranked second in 2A and 21st in the state in assists per game and was one of only four players in the state to average more than 21 points and 5.5 assists per game.
A three-year starter, Arnaman has amassed 970 career points and 309 career assists in his first three varsity seasons.
During his breakthrough junior season Arnaman shot 47 percent from the field including a career-best 42 percent from 3-point range and ranked 23rd in the state with 71 made 3-pointers.
Arnaman set school records for 3-pointers in a single season and in a game (9) and also set the single season assist mark at West Branch with 132 last year.
A unanimous first-team all-River Valley Conference pick last season Arnaman scored in double figures in 22-of-23 games last season, had 14 games with 20 or more points and scored 35 or more three times including 41 in a substate win over Durant.
Arnaman also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
Minnesota State Mankato is a member of NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Athletic Conference.
The Mavericks went 17-12 last season including an 11-11 mark in conference play.
