Girls Cross Country Roundup: Wedemeyer, City High Runner-up at MVC Divisional Meet

Ani Wedemeyer finished runner-up to lead Class 3A ninth-ranked City High to a runner-up team finish at the Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Divisional meet on Thursday at Seminole valley Park in Cedar Rapids.
Wedemeyer finished runner-up to individual champion Keelee Leitzen of Dubuque Hempstead as City High finished with 47 points to finish behind only third-ranked Dubuque Hempstead in the team standings.
Linn-Mar was third with 73 points while 5A No. 15 West High was fourth with 97 points.
Wedemeyer finished in a time of 18:16.69 to headline a group of four Little Hawks in the top 15 on Thursday.
Abigail Burns was fifth in 18:46.64 and Nicole Peterson finished eighth overall in a time of 19:21.58.
Grace Hamann was 12th in 19:48.18 for the Little Hawks and Claire Locher was 22nd in 20:09.28.
West High was led by sophomore Kate Van Waning who finished sixth in 18:53.83.
Susanna Olon was 17th in 20:05.59 for West High and Kalli Titus finished 24th in 10:14.28 for the Trojans.
