City High Sophomore Rogers Caps Impressive Season With Top-five Finish at 4A State Golf Meet

In his final round of a stellar season City High sophomore standout Jack Rogers came up with yet another impressive outing.
Rogers shot an even-par 71 on Saturday on the second day of the two-day Class 4A state golf meet at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny to cap an incredible season with a top-five state meet finish.
After shooting an opening-round 75 in cold and windy conditions on Friday, Rogers was one of 10 golfers to shoot even par or better on Saturday finishing with a 36-hole total of 146 to match Ankeny senior Drew Hansen.
The fifth-place finish by Rogers helped City High to a seventh-place team finish in its first appearance at the state meet since 2011.
West Des Moines Valley shot a 288 on Saturday to win the team title with a 590, eight strokes in front of runner-up Johnston.
City High shot a 297 on Saturday to finish with a 626 while West High was 12th with a score of 661 in its first appearance at state since 2009.
The fifth-place finish from Rogers capped an impressive sophomore season in which he became the first City High golfer to earn Mississippi Valley Conference divisional medalist honors since 2002.
On Monday Rogers shot a five-under par 67 to earn individual medalist honors at the state qualifying meet.
Ethan Nace shot a 75 on Saturday to finish 39th with a 159 while Nick Meredith shot a 161 for City High.
Drake Obermueller shot a 162 for City High.
West High was led by seniors Cole Collier and Dillon Croco.
Collier finished 43rd with a 161 while Croco was 55th with a 164 for the Trojans.
