The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Ashley Keeney
Former Liberty High standout and current Iowa State sophomore Ashlyn Keeney was named Big 12 Women’s Runner of the Week last week.
It was the first Big 12 weekly honor of Keeney’s career and came after Keeney helped the Cyclones to their second team win of the season kat the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational on September 16 in Lincoln Nebraska.
Keeney finished in fourth place in the Red division at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational finish the 5K in a time of 17:22.2.
Jaedynn Evans
Regina graduate and current Central Oklahoma senior Jaedynn Evans was named the GameChanger/AVCA Division II player of the week last week after helping No. 21 Central Oklahoma to three wins in five days.
Evans was also named the MIAA defensive player of the week last week after recording 67 digs in three matches.
The senior libero had 15 digs in one set in a win over Pittsburg State and averaged 7.4 digs per set in wins over Pittsburg State, Oklahoma Baptist and Newman.
On the season Evans leads Central Oklahoma with 170 digs and ranks fifth nationally with 6.07 digs per set while helping the Bronchos to an 11-1 record including a 2-0 mark in MIAA play.
KJ Williams
Liberty High graduated and current Morningside junior running back K.J. Williams rushed for 75 yards on Saturday to help the Mustangs to a 48-17 win over Midland on Saturday in Sioux City.
Williams also averaged 40.5 yards on a pair of kickoff returns including a 52-yarder as Morningside improved to 4-0 on the season.
The 5-foot-8, 185-pound Williams has rushed for 249 yards and two touchdowns in four games this season while averaging 5 yards per carry for Morningside which is ranked third nationally in NAIA.
