Girls Cross Country Roundup: Wedemeyer, Burns Pace City High at Jim Boughton Invitational

City High finished fourth behind a trio of top-five ranked teams on Thursday at the Jim Boughton Invitational at the Dubuque Cross Country Complex.
Junior Ani Wedmeyer finished sixth and Abigail Burns was ninth as Class 4A No. 10 City High finished fourth with 89 points.
Third-ranked Dubuque Senior won the team title with 53 points while fifth-ranked Dubuque Hempstead was runner-up with 58 points and second-ranked Pleasant Valley was third with 61.
No. 11 Cedar Falls finished fifth with 123 points, Bettendorf was sixth with 200 and Davenport Central was seventh with 225 points.
Wedmeyer placed sixth overall in a time of 18:34.7 to lead the Little Hawks while Burns was ninth in a time of 18:41.2.
Nicole Peterson finished 23rd in 19:38.6, Grace Hamann was 24th in 19:42.4 and Claire Locher was 29th in a time of 19:56.3.
Dubuque Hempstead senior Keelee Leitzen won the individual title in a time of 17:56.1 while Waterloo West freshman Nakia Olivierre was runner-up in 18:19.3.
