Following a win over rival Mount Vernon on Friday Solon made its season debut in the Associated Press football poll on Monday.

Solon (3-1) was eighth in the 3A poll released by the Associated Press on Monday following a 37-20 win over previously second-ranked Mount Vernon on Friday.

The win was the third straight for the Spartans following a loss to seventh-ranked Davenport Assumption in the season opener.

Regina (4-0) dropped one spot to third in the most recent Class 1A rankings.

The Regals trail top-ranked Grundy Center and MFL Mar-Mac in the 1A poll.

Top-ranked teams in this week’s poll are Southeast Polk in Class 5A, Western Dubuque in Class 4A, Williamsburg in Class 3A, Van Meter in 2A, Saint Ansgar  in Class A and CAM in eight-player.
