Hailey Hested
Liberty High graduate and current Mount Mercy junior setter Hailey Hested led the Mustangs in assists in back-to-back sweeps of Peru State and Graceland last week as Mount Mercy opened Heart of America Conference play 2-0.
Hested had 29 assists and nine digs in a three-set win over Peru State on Friday and added 32 assists and three digs in a sweep of Graceland on Saturday.
Mount Mercy is 9-3 on the season and 2-0 in HAAC play and Hested had a team-high 414 kills, ranks second on the team with 13 ace serves and fourth with 122 digs.
Christian Janis
Former West High standout and current Sioux Falls freshman wide receiver Christian Janis caught two passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in a 36-17 win over the University of Mary on Saturday in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Janis caught a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the game for his first career reception to give the Cougars a lead it would never give up.
Griffin Kraft
Liberty High graduate and current Morningside sophomore Griffin Kraft had the best game of his young career in a 55-18 win at Hastings College on Saturday.
A sophomore tight end for the Mustangs, Kraft caught two passes for 83 yards in the win.
AJ Coons
Former Solon standout and current Western Illinois junior AJ Coons caught three passes for a team-high 69 yards in a 34-18 loss to Illinois State on Saturday in Macomb, Illinois.
Through two games this season Coons has six receptions and leads the Leathernecks with 111 receiving yards.
