The Your Prep Sports Alumni Report is a weekly segment that recognizes the accomplishments of graduates from YPS area schools that are continuing their careers as student athletes at the collegiate level. Alumni News is a way for readers to keep tabs on former area standouts.
Gavin Hierseman
Former West Branch standout and current Central College junior Gavin Hierseman had five tackles and an interception on Saturday to help the Dutch to a 34-24 win over St. Olaf in Northfield, Minnesota.
Hierseman had four solo stops among his five tackles from his defensive back spot to help Central College to a win in its season opener.
Shelby Kimm
Former Liberty High all-stater and current St. Cloud State freshman Shelby Kimm had 21 kills in four matches to help the Huskies go 4-0 at the Seawolf Invitational in Anchorage, Alaska.
The 6-foot Kimm had a career-high 11 kills in a three-set win over Florida Tech and had 10 digs in a sweep of No. 14 Alaska Anchorage.
Kimm had five kills each in wins over Alaska Anchorage and Upper Iowa to cap the 4-0 performance for the Huskies.
Colton Hoffman
Solon graduate and current Minnesota State sophomore Colton Hoffman tied for the team lead in tackles to help the Mavericks to a 54-26 season-opening win at Sioux Falls on Thursday evening.
A 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker, Hoffman had five solo tackles including a tackle for loss in the win.
