Boys Golf Roundup: City High Finishes Third in Strong Showing at Crandic Meet

City High had a pair of golfers finish in the top 12 on its way to a third-place team finish at the Crandic Meet on Tuesday at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City.
Playing on its home course City High shot a 320 on Tuesday to finish tied with West High.
Cedar Rapids Xavier had four golfers in the top 10 and won the team title with a 302 while Cedar Rapids Prairie was runner-up with a 317.
City High and West High were each three shots back of Cedar Rapids Prairie with a 320 while Liberty High was fifth with a 326.
Sophomore Jack Rogers led the way for City High shooting a four-over-par 76 to finish eighth.
Rogers shot 38 on both the front and back nine on Tuesday and was joined in the top-15 by teammate Zachary Meredith who shot a 79 to finish 12th.
Nicholas Meredith shot an 82 and Ethan Nace added an 83 for the Little Hawks who also got an 84 from senior Jake Mitchell.
West High’s Dillon Croco fired a 36 on the back nine to finish third overall with a 74.
Reid Hall of Cedar Rapids Kennedy shot an even-par 72 to earn individual medalist honors while Garrett Nurre of Cedar Rapids Xavier was one shot back with a 73.
Croco was just one shot behind Nurre after his even-par 36 on the back nine that featured three birdies.
Emery Crawford shot an 81 to finish 14th for West High while Cole Collier carded an 82 and Jack MacLagan shot an 83 for the Trojans.
Liberty High was led by Vaughn Tyler who finished fourth overall with a 75 while JJ Grimm shot an 82 for the Lightning.
Tyler shot even-par 36 on the back nine for the Lightning which also got an 83 for Landon Peoples and an 86 from Ryan Schmierer.
