Girls Cross Country Roundup: Wedemeyer Leads City High at Pleasant Valley Spartan Cross Country Challenge

City High finished sixth and West High was eighth at the Pleasant Valley Spartan Cross Country Challenge at Crow Creek Park in Bettendorf on Saturday.
Class 4A top-ranked Johnston won the team title with 57 points, six points in front of runner-up Naperville North while host Pleasant Valley was third with 69 points.
City High finished sixth with 123 points while West High was eighth with 241 points.
Junior Ani Wedemeyer finished 11th overall in a time of 19:45 to lead City High while teammate Abigail Burns was 13th in a time of 19:48.
Nicole Peterson finished 29th in 20:52 and freshman Grace Hamann was 34th in 21:02 for City High.
Sophomore Kate Van Waning led West High with a 26th place finish in a time of 20:38 and Cindy Wang placed 48th for the Trojans in 21:35.
