Boys Cross Country Roundup: Kabela Leads Solon to Runner-up Finish at Anamosa Invite

Brick Kabela led Solon with a third-place finish as the Spartans finished runner-up in the team race at the season-opening Anamosa Invitational on Saturday at Anamosa Middle School.
Kabela finished third behind individual champion Adam Gray of Cedar Rapids Kennedy and runner-up Micah Rees of Washington.
The time of 16:24 for Kabela was 16 seconds faster than fourth place Jacob Burns of Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
Class 3A sixth-ranked Solon had four runners in the top 15 while finishing runner-up to Class 4A sixth-ranked Cedar Rapids with 55 points.
The Cougars had five of the top seven finishers while winning the team title with 23 points.
Class 3A No. 19 Washington was third with 65 points followed by Muscatine with 108 and 2A No. 20 Jesup.
Michael Yeomans finished eighth for Solon in a time of 17:38 and Lawsin Sinnwell was 13th in a time of 18:12.
Collin Bumsted placed 15th in 18:16.
