Five Your Prep Sports area teams appeared in the preseason boys cross country rankings released on Tuesday by the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.

City High, West High, Solon, Clear Creek Amana and Regina were all ranked in the initial IATC rankings that feature 20 teams per class.

West High will open the season No. 14 in Class 4A while City High is No. 17 in the preseason rankings.

Solon is the highest ranked area team to start the season at sixth in Class 3A while Clear Creek Amana in No. 10 in the 3A rankings.

Defending 1A state champion Regina is No. 14 in the Class 1A preseason rankings.

Top-ranked teams in the preseason rankings are West Des Moines Dowling (4A), Pella (3A), and Des Moines Christian (2A) and ACGC (1A).
