Regina Rallies For Road Win at Sigourney; Advances to District Title Game

Regina entered the postseason four wins away from a trip to the state tournament.
After Wednesday the Regals are halfway there.
Regina dug itself out of an early deficit to down Sigourney 3-2 in a Class 1A, District semifinal on Wednesday in Sigourney.
Jack Clark had a pair of run-scoring doubles and Connor Nicpon and Tate Lynch combined to hold Sigourney scoreless for the final six innings as Regina advanced to the District 10 title game.
Regina (15-18) will face Hillcrest Academy (20-4) in the District 10 title game on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Kalona.
Burlington Notre Dame (24-6) and Moravia (23-7) will meet in the District 9 champions with the winner advancing to face the Regina and Hillcrest winner in the Substate 5 title game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Regina took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Nicpon drew a leadoff walk and scored on an RBI double by Clark.
Sigourney (18-6) responded with two runs in the bottom of the opening inning to take a 2-1 lead.
It remained 2-1 until the fifth when Regina regained the lead with a pair of runs.
Hudson Koch and Nicpon had back-to-back one-out singles.
After Koch scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two Clark plated Nicpon with his second double of the game to give the Regals a 3-2 lead.
Lynch tossed three innings of no-hit relief to secure the win for Regina, striking out three and walking two.
Nicpon earned the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out six and walking five.
Clark finished 2-for-4 with two RBI while Drew Streb had two hits and Nicpon went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Koch had a hit and scored a run and Will Litton and Colin Baker each added hits for Regina.
