Liberty High split a Mississippi Valley Conference doubleheader with Dubuque Hempstead on Monday in Dubuque dropping the opener 1-0 and winning the nightcap 11-1.
Liberty High moved to 19-17 on the season while Dubuque Hempstead now sits at 17-19.
Three Liberty High pitchers combined to allow just one run on six hits in six innings in the opener.
Mason Gardener took the loss allowing a run on two hits in an inning while Carter Meyers worked three scoreless innings and Zach Ahrens tossed two scoreless innings.
Luke Ramsey went 2-for-2 with a walk and Ryan Schmierer and Luke Mayer each added hits for the Lightning in the opener.
Liberty High pounded out 16 hits in the game two win.
Jayden Khamphilanouvong went 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored and Jackson Khamphilanouvong had two hits and drove in two runs.
Meyers had two hits and scored twice, Mayer had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run and Gavin Benton had a hit and drove in a run.
Schmierer had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run and Landon Peoples had a hit and scored a run.
Five Liberty High pitches combined to hold the Mustangs to just three hits with Landon Chandler allowing one run in two innings and Jack Andersen tossing two scoreless innings.
Kael O’Donnell, Jackson Tubbs and Owen Norris each scored a scoreless inning in relief.
