Baseball Roundup: Solon Wins Game Two to Earn Doubleheader Split With Benton Community

Solon split a WAMAC doubleheader with Benton Community on Monday in Van Horne dropping the opener 4-3 and winning the nightcap 7-1.
The Spartans moved to 16-12 on the season with the doubleheader split while Benton Community is now 21-8.
Vince Steinbrech took the loss in game one allowing four runs on five hits while striking out eight and walking four in six innings.
Blake Timmons was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run and Brett White had a double and drove in two runs to lead Solon.
Tyler Bell doubled, walked and scored twice for the Spartans in the opener.
Cole Farnsworth tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win in the nightcap, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out four.
Timmons was 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs in the nightcap and Jackson Link had two hits.
Bell had a hit and drove in a run and Nolan Seagren and Tyson Wheeler each had hits and scored runs for the Spartans.
