Baseball Roundup: Solon Sweeps Seventh-ranked Williamsburg in WAMAC Doubleheader

Solon swept Class 2A seventh-ranked Williamsburg in a WAMAC cross-divisional doubleheader on Monday in Williamsburg winning the opener 6-1 and taking the nightcap 18-3 in five innings.
With the sweep Solon improved to 13-9 on the season and 10-2 in WAMAC play while Williamsburg dropped to 14-9 and 6-6 in conference play.
Vince Steinbrech earned the win in game one allowing just one unearned run on two hits while striking out 11 and walking three.
Eight different Spartans had a hit in the opener led by Blake Timmons who went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Brett White homered and walked three times, driving in two runs and scored twice in the opener.
Solon hammered out 18 hits in the nightcap, breaking open the game with a nine-run fifth inning.
Steinbrech had four hits, drove in two runs and scored twice to lead the Solon offensive outburst.
Timmons was 2-for-3 with a double, drove in three runs and scored three times and Nolan Seagren doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in a run.
White was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Tyler Bell was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
Cole Farnsworth earned the win for Solon allowing three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking three in a five-inning complete game.
