State Champion Liberty High Has Five Players Named to IHSSCA All-State Team

Just days after concluding a historic season with the first state title in program history Liberty High has continued to pick up postseason hardware.
Class 3A state champion Liberty High had five players named to the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches All-State team that was released on Wednesday.
The list of five Lightning players to earn all-state honors was highlighted by senior Hayden Saul and junior Haider Nasr who were selected to the Class 3A first team.
Saul scored in every match at the state tournament and had a team-high 24 goals this season to go with five assists.
Nasr had six goals and led the Lightning with seven assists this season.
Junior Flori Gembo and sophomore keeper Conley Sundblad were each named to the 3A second team.
Gembo was second on the team with 16 goals and six assists while Sundblad made 77 saves and posted shutouts in each of the final two matches at the 3A state tournament.
Sophomore Roman Riggs was a Class 3A honorable mention selection.
Class 4A runner-up West High had a pair of players earn all-state honors.
Senior Michael Nelson was named to the 4A first team after scoring 12 goals and adding four assists for the Trojans.
Junior Kaleab Wendy was a second-team pick in Class 4A after leading West High with 15 goals and adding five assists.
City High senior Alima Mmunga was a second-team pick in Class 4A.
Mmunga had four goals and three assists for the Little Hawks.
Solon sophomore Keegan Conway was a second-team all-state pick in Class 2A after ranking second on the team with seven goals and adding two assists for the Spartans.
Regina had four players earn all-state honors in Class 1A.
Senior Will Lipsius and juniors Jack Hoover and Eddie Petersen were each named to the 1A second team after helping the Regals reach the 1A state semifinals.
Hoover led the Regals with 16 goals and added five assists while Petersen had 12 goals and eight assists.
Lipsius had a goal and three assists.
Junior Quinn Warren was an honorable mention pick for the Regals.
West Branch had a pair of honorable mention honorees after reaching the state tournament for the first time in program history.
Juniors Joe Hamann and Trenton Schutte were both honorable mention selections in Class 1A for the Bears.
