Mikey Takacs followed an impressive regular season with a dominant postseason.
On Tuesday Takacs capped an amazing senior season with a state title.
Takacs became the first state champion in Regina history defeating Hamburg freshman Keith Thompson in a playoff to win the 1A individual title at Ames Golf and Country Club in Ames.
After an opening round 77 that left Takacs three shots off the lead the Regina senior fired an even-par 71 on Tuesday to match Thompson with a 36-hole total of 148.
Takacs had birdies on the par-four 11th and par-four 17th while shooting a two-under 34 on the back nine to open his final round.
He was two over on front nine with back-to-back bogies on the sixth and seventh before closing with consecutive pars.
Thompson forced a playoff by shooting the low round of the meet with a one-under-par 70 on Tuesday that included four birdies.
The title for Takacs came after he finished fifth at the Class 2A state meet last season.

Hillcrest Academy shot a 313 on Tuesday to claim the team title with a two-day total of 650, five strokes better than runner-up West Fork.
