Two-Time Defending 3A Runner-up Solon Headed Back to State Golf Meet

Two-time defending Class 3A runner-up Solon will get another shot at a state title next week.
The Spartans made sure of that on Monday.
Solon won the Class 3A district meet by 19 strokes over host Waverly-Shell Rock on Monday at Waverly Municipal Golf Course to secure a spot in the Class 3A state meet next week.
Led by individual medalist Jack McCarty the Spartans had three golfers shooter 74 or better on Monday while finishing with a 295.
With the team title Solon advances to the two-day 3A state meet schedule for May 22 and 23 at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames.
Jack McCarty had five birdies on Monday and finished with a two-under-par 68 to win the individual title by four strokes over Clear Creek Amana senior Zach McCarty.
Jack McCarty had three birdies and a single bogey while posting a two-under 34 on the back nine.
Zach McCarty shot a two-over-par 72 to advance to the 3A state meet as an individual qualifier.
Sophomore Isaiah Zoske and Brennan Heesch each shot four-over 74 for Solon while Sean Stahle and Mac McCarty each carded a 79 for the Spartans.
