Ashlyn Keeney
Former Liberty High standout and current Iowa State freshman Ashlyn Keeney helped the Cyclones claim a pair or relay titles at the Drake Relays last week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Keeney ran on the Cyclones’ victorious 4×1600 and distance medley relay teams which both turned in historic efforts over the weekend.
The Cyclone 4×1600 won in a program-record time of 19:04.56, breaking the previous school record by more than nine seconds and posting the fourth fastest time in Drake Relays history.
Keeney capped her strong Drake Relays effort by anchoring the Cyclones to a win in the distance medley relay.
The Liberty High graduate clocked a 4:48.6 1,600-meter anchor leg as Iowa State posted the seventh-fastest time in program history in the event at 11:21.5 which ranks third fastest in the nation this season.
Tatum Koenig
West Branch graduate and former Green Bay player Tatum Koenig has signed to play professional basketball with ASC Mainz of Germany.
An all-stater at West Branch in her prep playing days, Koenig played in all 34 games last season for Green Bay while helping the Phoenix to a 28-6 record and a spot in the WNIT.
Koenig averaged 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game in her lone season at Green Bay after spending four seasons at Bradley.
Luke Ira
Solon graduate and current South Dakota State senior Luke Ira had a hit and drove in a run as the Jackrabbits won at Nebraska 8-3 last Wednesday.
A senior shortstop, Ira has started all 38 games this season for South Dakota State and is hitting .272 with 23 extra-base hits and 29 runs scored.
Ira ranks second on the team with 11 home runs, and 35 RBI and leads the Jackrabbits with three triples.
