Solon Caps Strong Drake Relays With Third-place Finish in Shuttle Hurdle Relay

The Drake Relays provides an opportunity for the best prep track and field athletes in the state to compete against one another over a three-day stretch at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Drake Relays also offers up a chance for smaller schools to prove they can compete with the biggest schools in the state.
That’s exactly what Solon did at the 113th edition of the Drake Relays.
Solon capped a strong Drake Relays performance with two more top-10 finishes on Saturday as the Spartans finished with top-12 finishes in three different relays over the three-day meet.
The Solon shuttle hurdle relay team of Aly Stahle, Mia Stahle, Calla Foster and Sophia Stahle finished third on Saturday in a time of 1:05.92.
West Des Moines Dowling won the shuttle hurdle relay title in a time of 1:03.2 while Ames was runner-up in 1:04.23.
Solon was nearly two seconds in front of fourth-place Waukee Northwest.
The third-place shuttle hurdle relay effort came after Solon finished runner-up in the sprint medley relay on Friday.
The Solon 4×800 team of Anna Quillin, Grace Hoeper, Ashlyn Williams and Gracie Federspiel finished 12th in 9:47.57.
Senior Sophia Stahle added a seventh-place finish in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.47 for the Spartans.
