City High flexed its middle distance muscle in individual races on Friday at the Drake Relays.

On Saturday the Little Hawk middle distance crew came together to lock up a Drake Relays title in impressive fashion.

City High pulled away from the field to win the 4×800 relay on the final day of the 113^th Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

The City High foursome of Truman Thompson, Ayman Noreldaim, Ford Washburn and Ammon Smith won the title in a time of 7:48.83.

Smith won the 800 meter individual title on Friday while Thompson was fourth and Noreldaim was 14^th all posting top-20 all-time marks in City High history.

Washburn finished fourth in the Elite High School Mile on Friday evening clocking a school-record 4:07.08.

Saturday that foursome was the class of Drake Relays field finishing more than three seconds in front of runner-up Johnston which was the only other team under eight minutes.

Washburn clocked a 1:54.99 split on the third leg to give City a sizeable lead and Smith secured the title with a 1:57.94 anchor leg.

West High finished fifth in the 4×800 relay with the team of Sam Showers, Mason Van Waning, Brice Wahe and Moustafa Tiea posting a time of 8:07.83.

The Trojans enjoyed another strong day at the three-day meet posting a trio of top-five finishes.

Junior Aidan Jacobsen finished third in the 400 hurdles clocking the second fastest time in school history at 52.83.

Linn-Mar senior Nicholas Gorsich won the 400 hurdles in a time of 52.28 followed by Ryce Reynolds of Mount Ayr in a time of 52.57.

West High added a third-place finish in the 4×100 as the team of Todd Rent, Izaiah Loveless, Daniel Robinson and Christian Janis blazed to a time of 42.19.
