City High Senior Schaeckenbach Finishes Fifth in High Jump at Drake Relays

A busy week at the Drake Relays for City High senior Matt Schaeckenbach started with a bang on Thursday.
Schaeckenbach finished fifth in the high jump to highlight the area action on the opening day for the 113th Drake Relays at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
The City High senior cleared 6-7 on his way to a fifth-place finish on Thursday.
Cedar Falls senior Jacob Kieler cleared 6-10 to win the high jump title while Linn-Mar senior TJ Jackson and Mid-Prairie senior Cain Brown each cleared 6-9.
Liberty High senior Da’Shon Fisher and Solon senior Oaken Foster each cleared 6-3 to finish 20th and 21st respectively.
City High’s Truman Thompson finished 22nd in the 3,200 in a time of 10:06.34.
On the girls side City High sophomore Nina Peterson finished 14th in the 3,000 in a time of 10:26.91 while Liberty High junior Cori Mac was 15th in 10:27.35.
Nicole Peterson placed 21st in a time of 10:46.19.
Liberty High senior Jasmine Barney finished 16th in the long jump with a mark of 16-8 ½ and Solon sophomore Kate Shafer was 16th in the discus with a throw of 116-1.
