Boys Track and Field Roundup: City High Opens Season With Team Title at Steve Roth Relays

Defending state runner-up City High picked up where it left off at the state meet last May in its outdoor season debut on Thursday.
City High won the Class A division at the Steve Roth Relays on Thursday at Case Field in Washington.
The Little Hawks won eight events and had six individual champions while racking up 149 team points.
West High was third in the Class A Division finishing with 96 team points.
Matt Schaeckenbach won a pair of individual titles for City High while Ammon Smith, Ford Washburn, Noah Carey and Ronnie Major all added individual titles for the Little Hawks.
Schaeckenbach won the high jump title by clearing 6-0 and added a title in the 400 hurdles in 55.72.
Schaeckenbach was also third in the 110 hurdles in 14.76 and joined Austin Rindels, Ian Moore, and Isaac Washpun to win the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:03.02.
Major won the long jump with a mark of 19-10 and Ammon Smith won the 400 meter title in 50.13.
City High finished first and second in the 3,200 as Noah Carey won the event in 9:46.26 and Braeden Marker was second in 9:52.59.
Washburn won the 800 in 1:56.69 and joined Smith Ayman Noreldaim and Truman Thompson in winning the 4×400 relay in 3:25.81.
The City High distance medley relay team of Drew Larson, Oliver Kniss, Connor Cross and Noah Carey was runner-up in 3:46.53.
West High got individual runner-up finishes from Todd Rent, Izaiah Loveless and Moustafa Tiea on the track and Daniel Robinson and Mason Woods in field events.
Rent was runner-up in the 100 in 11.37, Loveless was runner-up in the 200 in 22.51 and Tiea was second in the 800 in a time of 2:01.11.
Daniel Robinson runner-up in the high jump and Woods was second in the long jump.
The West High 4×100 team of Rent, Woods, Loveless and Harel Gameti won in 43.95 and the Trojan 4×800 team of Tiea, Sam Showers, Mason Van Waning and Anel Vukovic was runner-up in 8:22.93.
West High finished runner-up in the sprint medley relay as the foursome of Rent, Loveless, Gameti and Mason Goering finished in 1:40.36 and the shuttle hurdle relay team of Quinn Abbott, Jesus Marungo-Murrillo, Aidan Jacobsen and Ely Smock was second in 1:05.31.
