Solon Junior Benzing Headlines Area WAMAC Boys Basketball All-Division Selections

Solon had five players earn all-divisional recognition when the WAMAC Conference released its postseason boys basketball honors on Wednesday.
Juniors Jake Benzing, Gehrig Turner and Vince Steinbrech and seniors Sean Stahle and Oaken Foster all earned all-division honors in the East Division after helping Solon to an 18-5 record and a spot in the Class 3A substate final.
Benzing was a unanimous first-team all-East Division pick to headline the Spartans’ WAMAC honorees.
The junior guard averaged a team-leading 17.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 52 percent from the floor and 84 percent from the free throw line.
Steinbrech and Turner were each East Division second-team selections.
Turner averaged 9.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while Steinbrech averaged 9.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals per contest.
Foster and Stahle were each East Division honorable mention picks.
Clear Creek Amana had four players named to the WAMAC West Division team led by sophomore Brody Clubb who was a first-team pick.
Clubb averaged 9.9 points and led the Clippers with 5.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocked shots per game.
Sophomore Andrew Rotzoll was a second-team pick in the West Division after averaging 11.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
Junior Haiden Hardy and sophomore Cale Berry were each honorable mention selections for the Clippers in the West Division.
