Boys Basketball Roundup: No. 10 Ankeny Centennial Holds Off Late West High Rally in Substate Semifinal

West High trimmed a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to four in the final minute but could get no closer falling to tenth-ranked Ankeny Centennial 57-55 in a Class 4A, Substate 2 semifinal on Friday in Ankeny.
Ankeny Centennial improved to 15-7 on the season and advanced to the Substate 2 title game where it will face eighth-ranked Cedar Falls (1605) on Tuesday in Marshalltown at 8 p.m.
West High closed its season at 12-11.
Luke Winkel had 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ankeny Centennial as the Jaguars shot 41 percent from the field.
Evan Bryan was 10-of-13 from the floor and had 21 points for Centennial while Chase Shutty had three points, 10 rebounds and blocked two shots for the Jaguars.
