A historical season for Liberty High came to an end on Tuesday one win shy of a state tournament berth.
No. 10 Liberty High fell to seventh-ranked Southeast Polk 71-46 in the 5A, Region 7 title game on Tuesday in Pleasant Hill.
Liberty High closed the season 14-8 while Southeast Polk improved to 15-7 and advanced to the 5A state tournament for the fourth time in the past five seasons.
Jasmine Barney led Liberty High with 15 points, four rebounds and three steals while Haley Schroeder had eight points and five rebounds for the Lightning.
Madeline Casey had six points and three rebounds, Ava Meyer had five points and four rebounds and Bella Tafolla added five points for the Lightning.
Stella Charleston had a game-high 20 points to lead four Southeast Polk players in double figures.
Alyssa Bartlett had 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists and Jacie Mitchell had 12 points for the Rams.
Brooklin Dailey had 10 points six rebounds and six assists and Eva Solseth had six points, 12 rebounds and four assists for Southeast Polk.
