Marcus Morgan
Former West High standout Marcus Morgan and current Iowa sophomore pitcher Marcus Morgan got off to a strong start to the season on Sunday.
Morgan tossed four scoreless innings in a 10-0, eight-inning win over Quinnipiac on Sunday in Port Charlotte, Florida as Iowa started the season 3-0.
The right-handed throwing Morgan allowed just three hits and walked one, striking out one in four shutout innings.
Paige Rocca
City High graduate and current Missouri State junior guard Paige Rocca had back-to-back big games last week to help the Bears to a 1-1 week.
Rocca had 15 points, five assists and four rebounds in a 92-86 win over Murray State on Friday and had 17 points four rebounds and two assists in a 68-58 loss to Belmont on Sunday.
On the season Rocca is averaging 6.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game and ranks fourth on the team with 21 made 3-pointers while helping Missouri State to a 17-8 record.
Aubrey Joens
Former City High all-stater Aubrey Joens and current Oklahoma junior guard had back-to-back strong games last week in a pair of wins as the Sooners pushed their winning streak to six and improved to 22-4 on the season.
Joens had her fifth career double-double in a win over Texas Tech on Wednesday scoring a season-high 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in a 84-57 win.
On Sunday Joens had 12 points and three rebounds in an 86-80 win over Kansas and has scored in double figures in three consecutive games.
