Four Solon wrestlers advanced to the state meet with runner-up finishes on Saturday at the Class 2A, District 11 meet at West Delaware High School in Manchester.

Third-ranked West Delaware had a meet-best five champions and won the team title with 223.5 points while Solon finished runner-up with 155 points.

Sophomore Jordan Schmidt secured a second consecutive state meet appearance with a runner-up finish at 132 pounds.

Schmidt (30-9) advanced to the final with a quarterfinal pin and a 5-3 win over Anamosa freshman Ayden Antonelli in the semifinals.

Schmidt fell to fifth-ranked Royce Butt (32-5) of Central DeWitt 4-3 in the championship match.

Senior Braydon Hoffman, junior Kyler Jessup and freshman Hunter Campion will all join Schmidt at the Class 2A state meet scheduled for February 15-18 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines after runner-up finishes on Saturday.

Campion (16-20) was runner-up at 106 pounds falling to Central DeWitt sophomore Dolan Theisen in the championship match.

Jessup (23-22) was runner-up at 120 pounds with a loss to No. 8 Carson Less of West Delaware in the championship match.

Hoffman (36-18) secured a spot at the state meet with a runner-up finish at 195 pounds.

The senior went 4-1 on Saturday, falling to third-ranked Will Ward of West Delaware in the semifinals but posting back-to-back consolation wins to reach a wrestleback.

Hoffman pinned Dylan Monk of Monticello in 5:42 in the wrestleback to earn a spot at state.
