Girls Basketball Roundup: Liberty High Falls to Cedar Rapids Prairie in Regular Season Finale, Earns Share of MVC Divisional Title

Class 5A No. 10 Liberty High played Cedar Rapids Prairie even for the first eight minutes on Friday.
The Lightning actually outscored the Hawks in the fourth quarter.
In between, though, it was all Cedar Rapids Prairie.
Cedar Rapids Prairie outscored Liberty High 42-12 in the second and third quarters and rolled to a 68-42 win over the Lightning on Friday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division showdown in Cedar Rapids.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Liberty High and denied the Lightning an outright MVC divisional title.
Liberty High closed the regular season 13-7 and shares the Mississippi Division crown with Cedar Falls, the first divisional title in program history.
Kennedy Daugherty led Liberty High with nine points and six rebounds and Janessa Mosley added eight points and two rebounds for the Lightning which shot just 27 percent from the floor including 2-of-21 from 3-point range.
Haley Schroeder had seven points and three steals, Bella Tafolla had six points and two assists and Jasmine Barney had three points, six rebounds and three steals.
Asia Beale led three Cedar Rapids Prairie players in double figures with 15 points while Brynlie Hadenfeldt had 11 and McKenna Murray had 10.
