West Branch played host at the River Valley Conference wrestling meet on Saturday and the Bears gave their home fans reason to cheer.

A year after finishing 10^th at the RVC meet West Branch climbed to fifth on Saturday at the 14-team conference meet racking up 105 points.

Class 1A third-ranked Wilton crowned eight champions and rolled to the team title with 291 points.

Monticello was runner-up with 131 points followed by Anamosa with 125 and Tipton with 112.5.

Regina finished 11^th with 58.5 points.

Logan Wright won the 220-pound conference title for the second consecutive season as West Branch had six wrestlers secure top-five finishes.

Third-ranked Wright (35-3) went 3-0 on his way to the 220-pound title on Saturday earning a 3-1 win over Bellevue junior Jack Hiland in the championship match.

Lincoln Edwards (34-5) finished third at 120 pounds, Logan Christoffel (30-7) was third at 132 pounds and Cale Seydel (22-13) was third at 145.

Auron Marsh (20-12) placed fifth at 138 pounds and Jaxson Kaalberg placed fifth at 170 pounds.

Regina had a pair of wrestlers finish runner-up to highlight four top-six finishes.

Freshman Cash Hatfield (21-7) was runner-up at 126 pounds and Ian Udell was runner-up at 182 for the Regals.

Hatfield won three consecutive matches to reach the 126-pound title match where he lost to fourth-ranked Brody Brisker of Wilton.

Udell (27-10) pinned Ryan Funke of Dyersville Beckman in the semifinals before falling to third-ranked Kaden Shirk of Wilton in the title match.

Christopher Waikel (33-8) finished fourth at 195 pounds and Alex Jensen (18-26) was sixth at 113 for the Regals.
