Girls Basketball Roundup: Third-ranked Waterloo West Pulls Away From West High in Second Half

Class 5A third-ranked Waterloo West pulled away from No. 10 West High in the second half on its way to a 69-52 win over the Trojans on Tuesday in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division contest in Iowa City.
Waterloo West turned a two-point halftime lead into a 17-point cushion outscoring West High 21-6 in the third quarter.
The win was the seventh straight for Waterloo West and improved the WaHawks to 15-1 on the season while West High dropped to 11-5 with its second consecutive loss.
Meena Tate had 15 points and seven assists to lead West High while freshman Grace Fincham added 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists off the bench.
Melae’ Lacy had six points and six rebounds and Anna Prouty had four points and seven rebounds.
Keiko Ono-Fullard had five points, four steals and two assists.
