In two years of high school softball Brynlee Slockett has been a part of the two most successful seasons in program history.
On Monday Slockett announced the next program she plans to make an impact for when the Liberty High junior infielder announced her commitment to Northern Iowa with a post on social media.
“I am beyond thankful and so excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and softball career at the University of Northern Iowa,” Slockett wrote on Twitter. “A hue thank you to my family, friends, teammates and all of my amazing coaches that have helped me become the player I am today.”
Already a two-year starter for Liberty High Slockett is a career .333 hitter that has helped the Lightning post program records for season wins each of the past two seasons.
Slockett hit .350 as a freshman in 2021 while helping Liberty High to a 24-16 record and hit .323 last summer as the Lightning went 28-14.
As a sophomore Slockett ranked second on the team with 43 runs scored and had 11 extra-base hits including five home runs while driving in 23 runs.
Slockett had a .399 on-base percentage and a .496 slugging percentage as a sophomore.
