Girls Basketball Roundup: No. 3 Waterloo West Pulls Away From Liberty High Late

Class 5A third-ranked Waterloo West broke open a three-point game at the half with a 19-point third quarter on its way to a 69-56 win over 5A No. 15 Liberty High in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup on Friday in North Liberty.
Waterloo West improved to 11-1 on the season with its third consecutive win following a four-point loss at Linn-Mar on January 3.
Liberty High dropped to 7-5 on the season with the loss.
Jasmine Barney had 22 points, five assists and four rebounds to lead Liberty High while Madeline Casey added nine points and three assists.
Bella Tafolla had nine points, Ava Meyer had six points and eight rebounds and Avery Gaudet had six points, four rebounds and four assists for the Lightning.
Liberty High had 16 assists on 19 made field goals on Friday and finished 13-of-46 from 3-point range.
