City High pushed Class 4A third-ranked Cedar Rapids Xavier to the limit before falling 56-52 in a Mississippi Valley Conference cross-divisional matchup on Tuesday in Iowa City.

The Little Hawks dropped to 3-8 on the season with the loss while Cedar Rapids Xavier improved to 11-3 with its second consecutive win.

Augie Palmer had a game-high 29 points to lead City High while Emmy McComas added 11 points for the Little Hawks.

Lauren Koch had five points and Tessa Driscoll had three.

Kyla Mason had 23 points to pace Cedar Rapids Xavier and Libby Fandel had 19.
