Your Prep Sports 

Five teams from the Your Prep Sports area appeared in the first girls basketball rankings of 2023 released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Thursday.

Regina, Solon, Clear Creek Amana, Liberty High and West High all appeared in the most recent rankings after each of the five were in the final rankings of 2022 released on December 22.

West High (6-2) dropped one spot to No. 12 in the Class 5A rankings while Liberty High (6-4) dropped three spots to No. 15 in 5A.

Solon (8-1) held its spot at fourth in the Class 3A rankings and Regina (11-1) remained seventh in the Class 2A rankings.

Clear Creek Amana (6-2) climbed one spot to seventh in the Class 4A rankings.

Johnston (11-0) took over the top spot in the Class 5A rankings this week replacing Waterloo West while the other four top-ranked teams, Cedar Rapids Xavier in Class 4A, Estherville Lincoln Central in 3A, Dike-New Hartford in 2A and Algona Garrigan in Class 1A all remained the same.
