Lauren Zacharias
Former West High standout and current Wayne State College senior Lauren Zacharias was named Northern Sun Conference South Division women’s basketball player of the week last week.
Zacharias averged 25 points, six rebounds 4.5 assists and four steals per game in wins over Winona State and Upper Iowa.
She had 17 points, six assists and three steals in a win over Winona State and exploded for 32 points, five steals and three assists in a win over Upper Iowa.
On the season Zacharias is averaging a team-high 17.3 points and 5 rebounds per game ranking third in the NSIC in scoring, second in 3-point percentage (43 percent), ninth in steals (2.1) and 10th in assists (3.1).
Rose Nkumu
City High graduate and current Marquette junior guard Rose Nkumu was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll last week after leading the Golden Eagles with 15 points in a win over Butler.
Nkumu had 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting in the win over the Bulldogs and also added three steals and two rebounds in the win.
On the season Nkumu is averaging 5.8 points 2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game helping Marquette to a 9-3 record.
Jacob Dykes
Former City High state champion and current Southwest Minnesota State junior Jacob Dykes went 2-2 at the 43rd annual Midwest Classic last week in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Dykes went 2-2 in the 285-pound bracket at the Midwest Classic picking up a pair of wins by major decision.
On the season Dykes has compiled a 10-4 record.
