West High is tenth in the inaugural basketball rankings released by the Iowa High School Athletic Union on Monday.

The IHSAA rankings are compiled by a committee of two former head coaches and one media member and three IHSAA staff members and will be released weekly on Mondays through February 20.

West High (4-1) is one of five Mississippi Valley Conference teams in the initial rankings and trails MVC foes Cedar Falls (2-2) and Dubuque Senior (5-0) in the 5A rankings.

Top-ranked teams in the first rankings are Waukee Northwest in 4A, Cedar Rapids Xavier in 3A, Central Lyon in 2A and Grand View Christian in 1A.
