Emmersen Thomas and Teagyn Hartz each posted runner-up finishes to lead West Branch at the Tipton Invitational on Monday at the Tipton Middle School.

Thomas went 2-1 on her way to a runner-up finish at 110 pounds while Hartz went 1-1 and finished runner-up at 170 pounds.

On her way to the runner-up finish at 110 pounds Thomas posted a second-period pin of Natalie Hartman of Wilton and an 8-0 major decision over Mackenzie McFarland of Highland in the semifinals.

Thomas fell to Lainey Shelangoski of Durant 4-2 in the title match.

Hartz won a 17-8 major decision over Addie Hodgson of Western Dubuque in the semifinals and was pinned by Western Dubuque’s Rachel Rhomberg in the title match.

Hanna Lacina placed fourth at 120 pounds.
