Jack Kinzer
Liberty High graduate and current Wartburg sophomore Jack Kinzer helped the Knights to a runner-up finish at the Division III National Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Lansing, Michigan.
In his first appearance at the national championships Kinzer finished 130th overall in a time of 26:14.1 to help Wartburg to the best team finish in program history.
Wartburg finished with 129 points behind on national champion MIT which won with 82.
Kinzer earned all-conference honors with a fifth-place finish at the American River Conference meet on October 29 and continued his stellar season with all-region honors at the Midwest Regionals in Batavia, Illinois.
Cam Miller
Former Solon standout Cam Miller tied a school record with five rushing touchdowns to lead fourth-ranked North Dakota State to a 42-12 over No. 16 North Dakota in the regular season finale for both teams on Saturday in Fargo.
Miller rushed for 93 yards on a career-high 16 carries and completed 8-of-12 passes for 159 yards in the win as North Dakota State completed the regular season 9-2.
The junior quarterback had touchdown runs of 4, 7, 4, 5 and 30 yards in the win.
On the season Miller has passed for 1,458 yards and 10 touchdowns and has rushed for 263 yards and 11 touchdown for the Bison which earned the number three season in the NCAA FCS playoffs.
Cael O’Neill
Solon graduate and current Wartburg junior placekicker Cael O’Neill earned all-conference honors from the American River Conference when the league released its postseason awards last week.
O’Neill was named to the all-conference second team as a specialist after a junior season in which he converted 79 percent of his field goal attempts and was 48-of-54 on PAT attempts.
O’Neill made 11-of-14 field goal attempts with a long of 33 yards helping Wartburg to an 11-0 record and a spot in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
