Solon junior White Commits to Play Baseball at Baylor

Last week Brett White put the finishes touches on another standout prep football season.
On Monday the Solon junior wrapped up his recruitment process announcing his commitment to play baseball at Baylor with a post on social media.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Baylor,” White wrote on Twitter. “I would like to thank my parents, coaches and everyone who has helped me in this process.”
Over the past three seasons White has emerged as one of the top players in the state.
A varsity starter since his eighth-grade season White is a career .390 hitter and has already earned all-state honors twice after putting up impressive offensive numbers.
White has 124 hits in three varsity seasons to go with 53 career extra-base hits, 121 career runs and 119 career runs batted in.
The left-handed hitting shortstop hit .304 as an eighth grader and batted .356 with 13 extra-base hits as a sophomore while earning.
White had the best season of his career last summer when he led Solon in hits, runs, doubles, RBI, home runs, batting average and on-base percentage.
As a junior White hit .482 with a career-high seven home runs, 55 runs scored and 45 RBI while posting a .619 on-base percentage.
White was a Class 3A first-team all-state pick by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association last season.
Also a standout linebacker and running back for the Spartans White led Solon with 922 rushing yards and 77 tackles this season.
The 6-foot, 210-pound White has 171 tackles including 29.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks over the past two seasons.
