Liberty High Senior Hartman Named MVC Divisional Player of the Year for Third Consecutive Season

Liberty High returned to the Class 5A state tournament for the fourth consecutive season with a sweep of Cedar Rapids Prairie on Tuesday.
On Wednesday Cassidy Hartman continued her streak of reigning as Mississippi Valley Conference player of the year.
Hartman was named MVC Mississippi Division player of the year on Wednesday when then league released its postseason awards, marking the third consecutive season Hartman has earned divisional player of the year honors.
A three-time unanimous MVC all-division first team pick, Hartman highlighted a list of seven Lightning players to earn all-division honors.
Hartman ranks second in Class 5A with 469 kills this season, is second on the team with 39 blocks and 351 digs and ranks fourth on the team with 22 ace serves.
Joining Hartman on the Mississippi Division first team are sophomore setter Asta Hildebrand and senior Shelby Kimm.
Kimm was a unanimous first-team pick after ranking second on the team with 302 kills while leading the Lightning in digs (382) and ace serves (38).
The 382 digs for Kimm rank fourth in Class 5A.
Hildebrand earned first-team honors after leading Liberty High with 769 assists while adding 79 kills, 241 digs and 23 ace serves.
Seniors Lilah VanScoyoc and Isabelle Mehmen were each named to the Mississippi Division second team while juniors Gracie Hennings and Mariah Rollings were both honorable mention picks.
Van Scoyoc had a career-high 191 kills on .306 hitting this season to go with 31 blocks and 102 digs while Mehmen ranked third on the team with 306 digs.
West High had five players earn all-division honors in the Valley Division while City High had four players named to the Valley Division teams.
City High junior Claire Ernst was a unanimous first-team Valley Division selection after leading the Little Hawks with 285 kills on .256 hitting and ranking second on the team with 222 digs while adding 24 blocks.
Sophomore Emmy McComas was a second-team pick in the Valley Division for the Little Hawks after ranking second on the team with 210 kills and 27 ace serves and leading the Little Hawks with 281 digs.
Junior Sidney Slay and senior Ruby McDonough were each honorable mention Valley Division picks for City High.
West High junior Melae’ Lacy and senior Alaina Greenlee were each named to the Valley Division first team.
Lacy led the Trojans with 280 kills and had 218 digs, 29 blocks and 30 ace serves.
Greenlee was a first-team selection after posting a team-high 323 digs and 30 ace serves.
Senior Sophia Deyak earned second-team all-Valley Division honors for West High after ranking second on the team with 170 kills and leading the Trojans with 52 blocks.
Senior Lexi Nash and junior Emma Stammeyer each earned honorable mention honors in the Valley Division for West High.
