Solon will enter the postseason riding a six-game winning streak.

The Spartans made sure of that on Friday.

Class 3A seventh-ranked Solon jumped to a 35-0 halftime lead and cruised to a 41-7 win over Keokuk on Friday in its regular season finale in Keokuk.

The Spartans improved to 7-2 on the season with its sixth consecutive win and will host a Class 3A opening-round playoff game next Friday.

The loss was the fifth straight for Keokuk which closed the season 2-7.

In its final tune up before the postseason Solon jumped to an early 21-0 lead after one quarter.

Brett White started the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run before the Spartan special teams got into the act.

Junior Keenan Kruse blocked a Keokuk punt and picked up the loose ball returning it 28 yards for a touchdown to give the Spartans a 14-0 lead.

It was 21-0 after senior wide receiver Oaken Foster tossed a 62-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Rasmussen.

Sean Stahle caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Blake Timmons and Barret Schade scored on a 1-yard run to give Solon a 35-0 halftime lead.

Senior Brayden Ruskey became the third Spartan to throw a touchdown pass when he hooked up with Eddie Johnson for an 18-yard score in the third quarter.

Timmons finished 5-of-8 passing for 46 yards and a touchdown and also rushed for 71 yards on five carries to lead Solon.

White had 27 yards on four carries and Austin Knight had a 41-yard reception for Solon.

Brayden Moore had a sack and Kruse had two tackles and also picked off a pass for the Spartans.
